Amanda and Matty

The newlywed couple are on their honeymoon!

I hope if you attended Amanda and Matty's wedding, you enjoyed your stay in the Northern Neck.  For those unable to come, please consider paying us a visit in the future and see this link for a visual tour of the area:  http://www.visualtour.com/shownp.asp?sk=13&t=1164545.  Next time you're in the area, take advantage of the many enjoyable activities the Northern Neck has to offer ... including ferry excursions to Tangier Island (http://www.tangiercruise.com/tangier/Tangier_Main.htm) or Smith Island (http://www.cruisetosmithisland.com/index.html) in the Chesapeake Bay; a relaxing drive to see the quaint village of Reedville (http://www.thegablesbb.com/reedville.html) or to enjoy the small town charm of Kilmarnock (http://www.kilmarnockva.com/history.asp); a fascinating tour of Stratford Hall (home of the famous Lee family, which includes Civil War General Robert E. Lee -- http://www.stratfordhall.org/); a journey into history at Christ Church (one of America's oldest and best preserved colonial churches -- http://www.christchurch1735.org/plan.html; or perhaps a memorable visit to George Washington's birthplace (http://www.nps.gov/gewa/).  Of course, you can also enjoy your time at Bay Quarter Shores (www.bayquartershores.org).  Bring your swimsuits, fishing gear, golf clubs and tennis rackets.  Time and weather permitting, we're always happy to provide boat rides in the Potomac River and Chesapeake Bay.  Also bring your appetite ... and enjoy some local seafood at Cockerell's Creek Seafood Deli (near Reedville, serving quick, affordable lunches -- http://www.smithpointseafood.com/cockrellscreekseafood.htm).  For those who prefer Italian, try one of our local favorites, Nino's in Callao (http://www.insiderpages.com/b/3722991169).  You can also enjoy pizza, subs and sliders (yes, those mini-burgers you love) at Daddy-O's in nearby Burgess.  If you're seeking a fine Southern supper, you might also enjoy the historic setting of Rice's Hotel and Hughlett's Tavern, standing since the 1700s, the oldest surviving inn in the Northern Neck -- www.rhhtfoundation.org.  One more addition to my suggestions is to take a FREE voyage across the Little Wicomico River via the famous Sunnybank Ferry.  A recent photo I took using Jill's cell phone appears below (please accept my apologies for the poor quality; it was shot through the car windshield).  For more information, check out http://www.gribblenation.com/vapics/ferry/sunnybank.html.

Thanks for visiting this site about Bay Quarter Shores.  Among the most interesting elements of my site are aerial photos taken July 10, 2005, and shots of the reconstructed clubhouse (rebuilt from the ground up following a fire in February 2004) which opened in July 2005.  Our new home here, which I've dubbed "The Stronghold" in honor of a noted book recounting the history of the Northern Neck, has recently been completed.  For more information, or to comment on the site, you may e-mail me at mgoodst@excite.com.

Bay Quarter Shores is on Bay Quarter Neck, a lovely peninsula bordered by Cod Creek, Presley Creek and the Potomac River.  In Northumberland County, located on Virginia's pastoral Northern Neck, Bay Quarter Shores offers privacy and relaxation with boat facilities, tennis courts, a driving range, a clubhouse, beach, barn, swimming pool, campground, hunting area, canoe launch and more.

Within this site, you can see a variety of sights within Bay Quarter Shores and the surrounding areas, including the town of Heathsville.  Enjoy it in this setting ... and perhaps sometime you can visit in person!  (Note -- cliuck on most photos here and you can see them in enlarged views on a separate browser page.)
